Four Ways To Make Your Company More Customer-Centric In 2025
An operator or marketing leader setting customer experience priorities for the year.
In short
Rob Lancit argues that revenue follows customers, so leaders should begin the year with an accurate reading of where they stand with the people who buy from them. The goal he sets is a relationship that produces retention, repeat business and referrals.
He organizes the advice in three lists. To meet customers where they are: use data and predictive analytics to see pain points early, talk to customers directly on social channels, in forums and on one-to-one calls instead of relying on surveys, give frontline employees a line to leadership, and study why competitors’ customers chose them. To invest: AI-driven support that works around the clock, personalization tools, a consistent experience across website, app, social and in-person contact, and training in soft skills, problem-solving and empathy.
The third list is the mistakes. Overpromising and underdelivering. Ignoring negative feedback, when resolving it builds credibility. Generic communication. Neglecting the customer after the sale, which he treats as the most common failure, since many businesses spend more effort winning customers than keeping them.
He says he plans to apply the same ideas at the commercial cleaning franchise where he works, through better franchisee support, AI-assisted service customization, clearer client communication and sustainability work.
“Far too many businesses exert too much energy on acquiring customers and not enough on retaining them.”
